My Review - Just Like You

JUST LIKE YOU by Marla Stewart Konrad is a children’s book that has a world theme. The opening line “On the day that you were born . . .” starts each new page, but focuses on the different nations of Russia, Asia, India, etc. It speaks about the similarities of loved shared within a family regardless of nationality or origin.

The book is beautifully illustrated by Lin Wang in soft hues and icons indicative to the nation being showcased. And all though the book is skillfully done, I would not pass it on to my “adopted” granddaughters. The intimacy spoken about, ”I looked in your eyes, cuddled you close . . .” I feel would be to sensitive for an adopted child since these are not words most adoptive parents could share with their child.

A side note - The publisher, Zonderkidz, is donating $10,000 to World Vision, an organization dedicated to helping children and communities reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty.
