My Review - Wild Montana Skies

4.5 out of 5 stars
WILD MONTANA SKIES by Susan May Warren, follows Kacey Fairing as she tries to reinsert herself in her daughter’s life while staying as far away from Ben King as possible.

Helicopter pilot Kacey Fairing is coming home. After surviving a catastrophic crash in Afghanistan, she still suffers the emotional fallout of losing team members and shouldering the blame. Needing time to regroup, Kacey heads home to Mercy Falls, where she plans on working with search and rescue team PEAK, and hopes to reconnect with her teenage daughter. What she’s not prepared for is running into former flame, Ben King.

Country music star, Ben King has returned to Mercy Falls to care for his father after he is injured, and help him run PEAK. What Ben doesn’t know is that his father has hired Kacey Fairing to be their new helicopter pilot. Kacey—the only woman Ben has ever loved—broke his heart thirteen years ago, and he’s never really gotten over her. Hoping to rekindle what they once had, Ben is devastated to find out the reason Kacey broke it off with him.

WILD MONTANA SKIES was filled with great characters and more than one subplot. Though this is book one in the series, there is a prequel (If Ever I Would Leave You). I would recommend reading it first so you have backstory on the characters of Ian and Sierra. I loved the chemistry between Kacey and Ben. The dialogue between the two of them allowed the readers to sense the comfortability they once shared even though Kacey tried so hard to ignore it. I am curious to see how many books are in this series since Ms. Warren has such a strong collection of secondary characters she could easily develop. Looking forward to RESCUE ME, book two in the series. I hope to get some closure is the Ian/Sierra/Esme storyline.
