My Review - Yesterday's Tomorrow

YESTERDAY’S TOMORROW was a wonderful surprise! Though I requested the book in return for a review, I wasn’t too sure I would appreciate the Vietnam setting. But the amazing writing by Catherine West won me over.

Kristin Taylor is determined to be an overseas correspondent. Not just to honor her father who died while reporting the war in Vietnam, but she knows she has what it takes to write the stories no one else is reporting.

Luke Maddox is a photographer who thinks of Kristin is nothing more than an annoyance . . . an annoyance that gets under his skin. He soon learns to appreciate her guts and grit along with her compassionate heart and good looks.

Their stubbornness and independent spirit has Kristin and Luke keeping secrets close to the vest and from each other. But soon respect for each other grows into something far more than either one of them is willing to admit. When they finally do, there world is turned upside down.

I cannot put into words what an incredible story Catherine West has penned. Her characters were so full and the suspense so gritty, I could not put the book down. I appreciated the edge of West’s writing, something I think is too often missing from Christian novels. I’m a firm believer that realism must be present without crossing the line into flagrant abuse of language or circumstances. Catherine West did an exceptional job! A favorite on my list.

Book provided for review purposes.
