My Review - Texas Roads

This review is late in coming. With two granddaughters with the chicken pox, a trip to urgent care, my older son away in the Army, and our biggest season (I work at one of the largest Christian camps in the nation), May and June have been a bit overwhelming for me. If you have more questions about TEXAS ROADS, please scroll down to my earlier post which provides book excerpts.

TEXAS ROADS takes you on Dani Davis’ journey to find her place in the world. Leaving the big-city life of Dallas behind, for the small town of Miller’s Creek, Dani is in search of finding a place where she belongs, where she feels accepted, a place she can call home. What she encounters is an emotional roller-coaster of feelings, fears, and insecurities. Carving out a relationship with her Aunt Beth proves to be difficult with guard dog Steve Miller around. The town Mayor, though good-looking, eyes Dani with distrust and lets her know by his actions that he questions why it is she has suddenly popped up in Miller’s Creek. Dani, afraid to expose herself to rejection, gives off a stand-offish air fueling Steve’s uneasiness. When an unexpected donor sets up a foundation to fund the rebuilding efforts of Miller’s Creek, and a Dallas lawyer shows up on the scene with eyes for Dani, more suspicions ensue. Dani’s might be keeping a secret from the town folk to protect herself, but soon finds out she is not the only one keeping secrets.

I enjoyed TEXAS ROADS. Though its slow start gave me reason to put it aside from time to time, its momentum finely built in the last third of the book, preventing me from putting it down at all. Now that I feel a vested interest in the people of Miller’s Creek, I will be keeping my eyes peeled for the sequel.
