My Review - Tangled Webs

5 out of 5 stars
As always, Irene Hannon delivers action and romance with book three of the Men of Valor series.

Army Ranger Finn McGregor is looking for some serious R&R. Recuperating from a mission that went wrong, and contemplating his future, he heads to the woods so he can wrestle his demons and come out stronger—without the help of his supportive but sometimes domineering brothers. When a scream rents the night, he finds himself in action mode. Who he discovers is Dana Lewis, a publishing exec. trying to recover from her own nightmare that almost took her life. Dana becomes an easy-on-the-eyes distraction who helps Finn process through his doubts regarding his future.

After surviving a horrendous ordeal, Dana Lewis has both physical and psychological injuries. Time in her grandfather’s cabin, where good memories surround her, is helping with her recovery. That is, until she feels threatened by pranks that are more than teenage rebellion. When it’s obvious the incidents are targeting Dana, she is more than grateful to have Finn McGregor as her neighbor. When their time together turns into something more than just Finn’s need to protect her, Dana wonders if her time in New York is over, and if she has what it takes to follow Finn to Atlanta.

TANGLED WEBS is exactly that, the convergence of two people trying to recover from devastating ordeals, and two people who have allowed criminal activity to compromise who they are. As these four people trip and stumble over each other’s secrets, the outcome could prove to be deadly.

TANGLED WEBS was a quick read because I didn’t want to put it down. There really wasn’t a huge suspense element because the culprit is revealed early in the book. I like this style of writing because the reader gets the chance to climb into the mind of the perpetrator throughout the story instead of a quick reveal at the end of the book. Though this is book three, it easily reads like a standalone novel. Another great series from Irene Hannon.
