A HEART DIVIDED by Kathleen Morgan takes its lead from the Hatfields and the McCoys.
Sara Caldwell finds herself in the middle of the longstanding feud between her family and the Wainwrights. When a turn of events has her and her young brother being held captive by Cord Wainwright, she soon finds out the Wainwrights are not the despicable people her father has made them out to be. Cord’s concern and care for her ailing brother wins Sarah over, even against her better judgment. But when Cord continues to shun her, she finds solace with his brother, Nick, and Nick intern teaches Sarah about the faithfulness of God.
Cord is beyond exasperated with Sara and the way his brother, Nick, is spending so much time with her. He refuses to allow himself to be taken in by a Caldwell, no matter how pretty she is. The only problem is convincing his heart that Sarah means nothing to him.
A HEART DIVIDED could be called predictable, but Kathleen Morgan’s skillful writing creates a story you want to follow until the end. With a few twists, and characters you are drawn to, putting A HEART DIVIDED down was hard for me to do. Cord and Sara were both strong leads who were clearly torn between their love for each other and their devotion to their own families. The first in the Heart of the Rockies series, I look forward to reading book two.
