My Review - Vanishing Act by Jennifer Allee & Lisa Karon Richardson

I was suspect regarding a book about a medium, but VANISHING ACT from the writing team of Allee and Richardson was intriguing, suspenseful, and had the perfect romance with characters that fit the old adage that opposites attract.
Juliet Button aka Miss Avila finds herself in a unique position.  Though she doesn’t believe that she can communicate with the dead, she does have the ability to make people believe she can.  Her desire is not to deceive, but to give people peace and comfort at a time of great loss.  And since it is her only option to keep her ragamuffin family together, she convinces herself that no one is getting hurt.  But Carter Forbes has set his sights on exposing her unless she’s willing to help him out.  Yet, even with the threat Carter presents, Juliet is drawn to the man behind the badge.
Pinkerton agent Carter Forbes knows Miss Avila is a fraud.  But he’s willing to let her go as long as she helps him expose the conman who’s romancing his sister.  But when he needs Miss Avila’s help with a high profile case, he soon learns there is more to the woman then her ability to say what others want to hear.  When Juliet is injured while working with him, Carter realizes his feelings for her have grown much deeper than they should.  And it he’s not careful, she is going to walk away with his heart.
I was very curious to see how Allee and Richardson were going to pen a Christian romance novel with a medium as the heroine and a man out to expose her as a fraud as the hero.  Surely someone was going to be proven wrong.  But they did it flawlessly.  Juliet Button was warm and genuine, and Pinkerton agent Carter Forbes–whom we met in the first installment in the Charm & Deceit series DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH–was dashing and very much the hero.  I thoroughly enjoyed VANISHING ACT and the writing styles of Allee and Richardson.  I can’t wait to read more of their work.
