Echoes of TitanicEchoes of Titanic by Mindy Starns Clark

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

ECHOES OF TITANIC by Mindy Starns Clark, and co-authored by her husband, John Campbell Clark was a fascinating read. Mixing fiction and history, suspense and romance, I thoroughly enjoyed the tandem setting of 1912 and 2012.

Kelsey Tate, descendant of Adele Brennan, Titanic survivor, is fighting to save the firm Adele established 100 years ago. With a hostile takeover looming, Kelsey must figure out who the saboteur is who‘s working from within Brennan & Tate, and time is not on her side. With the clock ticking, Kelsey must answer the questions: Did an employee commit suicide or was it murder? Was Adele who she said she was or was she an imposter? Are her mentors working for her or against her? And, the allusive bonds bought by Adele aboard the Titanic, did they survive, and if so, where are they?

With only days before her family’s company is sold out from under her, Kelsey employees the help of Cole Thornton, the man she once loved. Forced to recognize her own flawed “at all cost” mentality, she regrets the way she treated Cole in the past, and realizes her feelings for him have never dimmed. With a second chance at love, will she make the right decisions this time? or will she once again put her relationship on the line in order to prove her business prowess?

ECHOES OF TITANIC was an elaborately spun web of facts and fiction. A little slow on the uptake, I found myself enjoying the current day storyline with Kelsey at the center. But, towards the end, the “need to know” regarding Adele and her cousin, Jocelyn captured my fascination. A very intriguing story for sure. One I highly recommend.
